UCSB Names Second Cohort of NSF Fellows

32 UCSB undergraduates will receive Data Science fellowships in 2021-2022.

September 21, 2021

News Update: On October 21, 2021, the Central Coast Data Science group at UCSB will hold their first in-person event since the inception of the program. Fellows, faculty, and other researchers will meet over a pizza lunch to talk about the program, expectations, projects, and whatever other data science related topics might come up. Many of the fellows are enrolled in the Data Science Capstone course, and many have met with individual faculty, but this will be the first time with a critical mass in one place.

The meeting will be held in Harold Frank Hall, room 1132, starting at 11:30 am.

As of Fall 2021, UCSB welcomes 32 additional fellows into the Central Coast Data Science Partnership, bringing their total number of fellows to 56.  The new cohort of fellows represent a diverse background of majors, which speaks to the overall goal of bringing all academic departments into the data science community. Through committee participation and capstone projects, these students will help bring exciting new research to the entire campus.
