SBCC Announces Data Science Career Panel
SBCC promoted careers in data science with a panel presented via Zoom on November 10, 2020.
Santa Barbara City College's Schall Career Center hosted a "Data Science Career Pathway Panel" for UCSB and CalPoly Data Science undergraduate fellows to share their experience with SBCC students.
The event was organized by Professor Nathalie Guebels, who is the Chair of Computer Science, and Jana van Erp Mori, the Schall Center's Student Program Advisor. Guebels, along with her colleagues at UCSB and Cal Poly, hopes the panel will inspire city college students to pursue the dynamic and growing field of data science. The panel continues the efforts of a larger NSF-funded grant aiming to connect data science education along California's Central Coast. Already in Fall 2020, the introductory Data Science courses at UCSB have been made available to highly motivated SBCC students.
